Classic Dozier from Bob's Personal Collection

In 1975, after leaving A.G. Russell Knives and returning to work as an iron worker, Bob crafted this knife in Palmetto, LA, that was a true testament to hand craftsmanship. Bob only made four or five of this particular model, each one entirely shaped and finished using nothing but files and sandpaper - no machines were involved in the process. This method required patience and precision, forcing him to rely on his hands and instincts rather than mechanical tools. The result is a knife that carries the marks of true craftsmanship, with every contour and edge shaped through sheer effort and skill.

One of the defining features of this knife is its mirror finish, achieved through countless hours of careful hand-polishing. Without the aid of power tools, bringing the steel to such a high level of refinement was not small feat, but it gives the knife a striking, almost flawless appearance.

The handle was made from micarta, a durable and reliable material that provides both a solid grip and a refined aesthetic. The combination of the polished steel and the smooth micarta create a knife that is both elegant and functional, built to stand the test of time.

The warm tone of aged brass introduces a striking visual contrast against the polished blade and dark handle. The natural patina developed over decades gives the guard depth and character, reinforcing the knife’s vintage heritage while elevating its overall presentation.

As Bob looks back, this knife represents a pivotal moment in his journey as a knifemaker. Though he had stepped back from working with A.G. Russell and returned to iron work, he never lost his passion for making blades. The dedication and effort he put into this knife - crafting it entirely by hand - reminded him why he loved the process in the first place. Each of the four or five knives carries a piece of that experience, reflecting both his skill and his determination to keep creating, no matter where life took him.
